The Ferris IS3200Z zero turn mower is probably the most underrated mower in its class. It is comparable to the Toro 5000 Series, Exmark Laser Z X-Series, and Scag Cheetah.
This mower is an absolutely beast with the powerful engine options and has the most comfortable ride hands down. In order to simplify the article I am only going to look at the 61″ model. To learn more about the 72″ model check out Ferris' website.
Power
The 61″ IS3200Z mower engine options include: Kawasaki FX1000V (35HP), Vanguard BIG BLOCK EFI with Oil Guard (37HP), and Vanguard Big Block with Oil Guard (32HP).
The kawasaki and the EFI BIG BLOCK engines are unbelievable. They are capable of withstanding the most difficult applications. The oil guard is a big plus on the BIG BLOCK… changing oil every 500 hours is a gamechanger for larger crews.

Cut Quality
The cut quality is very good. The deck is designed to have a lot of air flow throughout the deck allowing for a larger side discharge. This allows for more grass to discharge. The mower can realistically cut great at top speeds. A mulching kit will, in most cases, change this as it does for every other mower.
The way the pivoting front axle and full suspension work together with the deck is amazing. It is less likely to scalp grass with this system. Obviously it is a little easier with the 72″ but still better than nearly every other 72″ mower in the industry.
Durability
This thing lasts a long time. I have spoken with many people that have had older models like the IS3200 and they are still running after about 10 years in a commercial setting. I saw one a couple days ago with 3600 hours on it and still running!
The deck is 10 gauge with 10 gauge welded at all of the stress points in the deck. This equates to technically having a 5 gauge deck. In my experience it seems to hold up very well.
The Hercules II spindles on this mower are also very durable. The entire belt, pulley, and spindle system is very good at maintaining belts. It seems to do very well at avoiding premature wear on belts and throwing belts off.
Comfort
This is where the IS3200Z WINS. This mower is hands down the most comfortable ride on the market, by far! The difference is how it suspends the entire mower instead of just a seat or platform.
It truly feels like you're gliding when on this mower. The biggest benefit of the comfortable ride is the ability to mower rough terrain at higher speeds than competitors.
The Vanguard Oil Guard models in this line up also come with a suspension seat (pictured below). This adds even more comfort to the ride of this machine. It really doesn't get much better than this.
Aesthetics:
The IS 3200Z is a very good looking mower. The new seat design has really added a touch to the overall aesthetic.
It has the standard controls of nearly every zero turn. All are in convenient spots and easily accessible. This includes cup holder, control panel, foot assisted deck adjustment, and several other features.
Safety:
The safety on the Ferris IS 3200Z is standard to almost all mowers in the industry. The mower cuts off if you get of the seat. It is equipped with a seat belt and roll bar as well… all pretty standard stuff.
Price:
The price point on this mower is very competitive at around $11,500 – $12,500. For a more accurate price contact a local Ferris dealer!
