Bobcat XRZ Pro RS Zero Turn Review

Bobcat brought in new zero turn mowers for the year 2018, and they are nothing short of stunning. Of these mowers, the Bobcat XRZ Pro RS Zero Turn Mower is one of interest.

Featuring all the sturdiness and functionality that we would love to see in a mower, Bobcat also made sure to include ease of use and functionality into the package. Coming with a 6-year warranty and covered over as much as 1200 hours of operation, the user is almost always guaranteed a good deal on every one of these units copped.

To get a better insight into this Bobcat XRZ Pro RS ZT mower, we have put up a review of everything you might have ever wanted to know before committing to one yourself.

Power

Under the hood of this mower is a Kawasaki engine, known for their durability and performance. The exact engine is a FX series from the manufacturer.

This engine is rated to reach up to 23.5 hp on usage which allows for attaining speeds as high as 10mph. There is also a Hydro Gear ZT-3400 transaxle in place for better performance and durability.

Complete with dual fuel tanks of 9.5-gallon capacity, the Bobcat XRZ Pro RS ZT does well in the power section.

Features

  • Kawasaki FX series engine reaching 20.5, 22 or 23.5 hp
  • Caries dual fuel tanks with a combined 9.5-gallon capacity
  • Engine can drive the mower up to speeds of 10mph
  • Equipped with Hydro Gear ZT-3400 transaxles
  • TufDeck Pro mowing deck comes in sizes of 48”, 52” and 61”
  • Drive wheels measure 23”
  • Every unit comes with a 6 year/ 1200 operational hours warranty.
  • Blade tips records up to 18,000 fpm

The 23” drive wheels are sturdy enough to carry the weight of the machine as well as the operator. Besides, they are also made to resist slip so that the mower can be used to work on steep slopes.

The weight distribution of the machine is highly optimized to ensure it doesn’t tip over when working on high ground. Attaining a ground speed of 10mph, a larger field area can usually be covered in little time. That is not to mention the variety of cutting inches with the decks, allowing the operator choose a model which works best for the kind of operations they’d like to apply the mower to.

The Bobcat XRZ Pro RS ZT can be picked up with either mowing decks of 48”, 52” or 62”. All the decks are developed using the TufDeck Pro standard. Furthermore, there is an oversized discharge chute on board to effectively take care of clippings encountered during operation.

Durability

Kawasaki engines are made to last, so there’s no question there. The transaxles also carry fewer risks of leaking, improving its reliability for long term usage. On top of that, the ZT-3400 model is a tough nut to crack on its own.

Complete with a sturdy, steel material build, the mower would surely be able to hold its own against external abuse. Looking at the tires, 23” width and a good thickness level to match makes the mower an ideal fit for working in rocky areas without fear of immediate damage to the tires.

Comfort

An adjustable, fully-mechanical seat has been provided with each unit of the Bobcat XRZ Pro RS ZT to ensure maximum comfort to the operator during every ride. To reduce arm fatigue too, the mower controls are slightly oversized with a dampening feature.

Riding experience is also improved with the introduction of a quick lift foot pedal to aid easy movement over obstacles and keep the running smooth. Combine that with the wide tires – which make for proper distribution of weight and better traction – and the comfort is even more pronounced.

Aesthetics

The beauty of this unit comes in how the colors are used together on a streamlined build without sacrificing performance. Black rims are accentuated by the black belt covers which have a dark seat to themselves.

Rather than go the conventional way of using a generous dose of red with touches of white and black, the Bobcat XRZ Pro RS ZT comes in a predominantly green hue. Of course, there are red and white details to make the colors pop even better.

Safety

The operator’s chair is not so high that they fear falling while it is not too low that it causes muscle/ back pain too. There are seatbelts in place to keep the operator secure at every point in time during operation.

For better stability, the 23” inch rear tires take care of weight distribution too well.

Price

The Bobcat XRZ Pro RS ZT is sold for between $6700 – $7000, depending on different factors. The price could be driven up by the vendor you are getting yours from, logistics involved in delivery/ installation and so much more.

Due to the presence of different specs (cutting decks, for example), price can also vary accordingly.

  1. What specifically on Bobcats are “trouble all the time”? I own an old discontinued ZTR brand so I have no dog in this fight.

  2. Highly recommend the Bobcat mowers!!! I have two Bobcat mowers, XRZ Pro RS 52″ 12 months old and a FastCat Pro 42″ 4 years old. Both commercial grade mowers and they are brilliant. I have not had one issue with either of them. I keep them serviced regularly and when ever I’ve needed a new belt or blades, the after sales service through AG Repairs Middle Dural has been nothing short of outstanding.
