The Ryobi zero turn mower has been around for several years putting forth the best products in electric riding and push mowers, blowers, weed eaters, chain saws, and other yard equipment items designed for homeowners and commercial users alike. Brushless motors are also becoming more popular today, and we will discuss two electric zero-turn mowers: the Ryobi 42″ 100 AH and the 54″ 115 AH mowers.
Brushless mowers operate off battery power and are quiet and more efficient for the environment. When the gas prices skyrocket, you can appreciate the battery power engines, which deliver a reasonable time to cut a good-sized property.
This fully electric mower features up to 3.5 acres of mowing on one charge. It comes with a high-powered 48v battery system and a brushless motor.
Summary
The lineup consists of the 42″ 100 AH Zero Turn Electric Riding lawn mower and the 54″ 115 AH Zero Turn Electric Riding lawn mower. The mower comes in a 42″ and a 54″ deck, which are fully electric and run-off battery power engines. And the key feature is that everything runs on electricity. It requires no gas, filters, oil, or spark plugs, and it has four brushless motors, a rugged steel frame design, and a heavy-duty deck. This zero turn mower is made for comfort, user-friendly, and convenience.
Power/Engine
The 42″ has four brushless motors, and the 54″ has five brushless motors. These motors are not like the motors of a gas engine. They run off lithium rechargeable battery power and are strong enough to push through thick grass by producing tremendous torque for cutting and the drive train system. Both mowers do not cause noise pollution or environmental pollution. Your neighbors will be happy and thankful. I especially like that it is not a noisemaker.
The mowers' drive system is also electronic and can roll through challenging terrains, pulling it through thick grass and hill sections perfectly.
Features / Specs
Here we will list the 42″ features and specs. These are the features we find fascinating for the 42″: we will note the differences between mowers if it applies.
- Fully Electric: No oil, gas, belts, spark plugs, or filters needed. Battery only
- Low Maintenance: Due to everything being electric, there is less maintenance on all brushless motor equipment.
- 4-5 Brushless Motors: Powerful enough to turn the blades. 4 motors for the 42″ and five motors for the 54.”
- A rugged steel frame design with a heavy-duty deck: Enhances durability and reliability.
- User Comfort: Quiet, seat adjusted, dual drive levers that are over-molded, and maximum space provided for foot resting.
- User Convenience: Included is LED Lights, a Storage compartment, cup holders, and a USB charger.
- Zero CO emissions: Perfect for the environment
Everything in the features is the same for the 54″ except for the following:
- Advanced control panel: Slow blade and speed options, battery gauge, LED Headlights, and reverse mow.
- Easy Access Charging Port: Located at the back of the mower, the port is easy to access and plugin.
- Five brushless Motors: For high access power and efficiency.
- 10 gauge Fabricated steel Deck: Has three precision-cut steel blades.
- Added Luxury: The 54″ comes with an armrest, two cup holders, and ergonomic control handles, and it has a towing hitch on the back of the mower.

Cut Quality
Both mowers have a prestigious and accurate cut. The 42″ has two blades while the 54″ has three. Brushless motors operate the blades instead of the gas engine motors that turn the blades with pulleys and belts. Each mower has the right amount of power to turn the blades and cut through the grass.
The deck is made with a ten gauge fabricated steel and is sufficient to cut commercial and residential areas. As mentioned, the 42″ has two blades with four brushless motors turning the blades while five brushless motors turn the three blades on the 54.”
The pros of the deck are the durability and the power, while the cons are the length of each cut which is more of a battery issue. You can only get three acres cut off each charged battery, so it is best to have more than one set aside ready to replace when the one in the mower dies.
Durability
One of the things we can guarantee is the durability of these Ryobi brushless mowers. They are tough with the steel frame all around. Steel is a material that can take a beating, and mowers bump into quite a few things, and these mowers come out unscathed. The mowers are built to last a long time, but it all depends on the maintenance. If the mower is well maintained and stored away from the weather, it can easily last a couple of decades.
If kept outdoors, it will rust and rot away much more quickly. The weak point overall is the amount of time the battery lasts. I would not recommend it for lawn services with plenty of big yards unless there are several batteries to back up the cut. But the mower itself is reliable.
Comfort
The mower is comfortable and has a seat that will support your body as it can adjust with four different settings. The space for the feet is more than enough room. Only the 54″ has the armrests, and The 42″ has the sides of the mower, which is not as comfortable. There is no word on suspension for the seat, but I find it absorbs the bumps as if it does. It has a little bounce to the seat.
With the luxuries of the cup holders, the feel of the handles and levers to steer is also comfortable. The USB Port for charging makes the mower feel at home as you can listen to your music for as long as the battery lasts.
Aesthetics
The mower is black with a sports green making it stand out among other brands. It is an excellent mower when you look at it, as everything is compact and strategically placed.
Of course, this is a residential mower, but it is very small and may look/feel weird for a larger person. Other than that, it is a sleek-looking mower with some modern features.

Price
The 42-inch model is around $4,499 and the 54-inch model is around $5,499. Of course, like other electric mowers, this is pretty expensive. If you are determined to get an electric mower, this may be a good option for you.
Another good electric mower that may spark your interest and is around the same price is the EGO zero turn mower.

If the 42 inch blade happen to hit a solid object will that damage the motor or just bent the blade or damage both?
