Snapper Pro S200XT Zero Turn Review

The Snapper Pro S200XT is the ultimate value commercial zero turn mower. It has so many great specifications and has an incredibly durable build. It is made with the commercial landscaper in mind while being easy on your wallet.

Let's take a look…

Comparison

The Snapper Pro S200XT is very similar to the Ferris F320. They are actually built in the same plant. It is the best zero turn Snapper Pro has to offer.

This mower comes at a great value. When coming to other mowers in the industry it is far lower than most. They may not come with all the bells and whistles that many other mowers come with but, at the end of the day, they cut grass and do a good job at it.

When I compare the mower with Scag Turf Tiger 2, I find a slight difference in speed and engine options. The S200XT has a ground speed of 10mph while Scag Turf Tiger 2 offers up to 12mph. The decks are even fairly similar with a slope nose design.

The big difference between the Snapper Pro S200XT and Scag Turf Tiger 2 will be the price. The S200XT is a couple thousand dollars cheaper across the board for similar specs.

Power

The S200XT mower has several different engine options. Including the 27 hp Briggs commercial series, 28 hp vanguard, 37 hp vanguard, and Kawasaki FX801V.

The 27 hp commercial series engine is an entry level commercial grade engine. This option is great for a homeowner with a large property or a part time landscaper.

The 28 hp and 37 hp vanguard engines both feature the oil guard system. This is great for commercial cutters as you won't have to change the oil as frequently. Both of these will provide plenty of power.

The Kawasaki FX801V is a solid engine that will definitely provide plenty of power. This option also comes in at an incredible price. There probably isn't a lower price mower in the industry with this engine option.

The S200XT features Hydro-Gear ZT-5400 transaxles. These are top of the line transmissions and widely accepted across the industry. They will provide a long life and plenty of speed.

Features

Foot-operated deck lift

The deck lift allows cutting height adjustment from 1.5 – 6” with 0.25 increments. This mechanism is assisted and makes height adjustment easy.

ICD Cutting system

It ensures superior cut quality and provides better airflow discharge. The wide discharge allows for more grass to leave the deck. This prevents clumping and bogging down the mower.

This is the same deck that is found on most Ferris mowers. They are the exact same design and made in the same place.

500-hour oil change

The oil guard system extends the oil change interval to 500 hours. This ensures proper lubrication during off-angle operation. The high- capacity internal oil reservoir keeps the engine cool and minimizes the thermal breakdown of oil.

High-back suspension seat

The seat comes with an adjustable armrest to ensure the operator enjoys an uncluttered layout. The seat is overall very comfortable. It isn't the best in the industry but definitely provides a comfortable ride.

Cut quality

The S200XT offers great quality cut and will fit in many job applications. More specifically, the cutting system allows for 61-72” cutting width.

The quality of cut will also depend on other factors like traction speed, tire pressure, and cutting unit accessories. Since this model is equipped with the ICD deck, the discharge chutes disperse the clippings evenly.

Finally, the two belt drive system creates less wear and longer life for the belts. This also helps a lot if a bagger is used. Baggers can add a lot of stress to belts and have two belts that prevent premature wear.

Durability

The mower comes with a rigid frame to withstand the toughest mowing conditions. It is definitely a well-built machine that will last a long time.

The S200XT mower has been around for a long time and continues to prove it’s reliable. No matter the terrain, they hold up over time and have very little problems.

Comfort

Snapper Pro S200XT comes with an adjustable suspension seat to ensure optimal comfort. It definitely is not the most comfortable mower on the market but it isn't the worst.

If you're looking for a very comfortable mower you may find better options. If you're looking for an affordable mower with decent comfort and a quality cut, this is the mower for you.

Aesthetics

The mower combines a tough design and smart aesthetics. It is a pretty good looking mower. It appears a little outdated to some of the newer zero turns on the market but it's not bad.

It doesn't follow the new, modern look that many mowers have adapted. The focus of this mower seems to be more on making a durable and effective mower.

Build quality

The Snapper Pro S200XT has a very high-quality build. The mower is made of 7-gauge stainless steel which is guarded by 48 months limited warranty. The build is very solid and seems to hold up to everyday wear and tear very well.

Safety

Snapper Pro has most of the standard safety features found on zero turns across the industry. It has a seat sensor to cut the mower off if you come off the seat while mowing. It also has a ROPS (rollover protection system) and seat belt.

This is definitely the best part about this mower… it ranges from $7,799 – $11,499 depending on deck and engine options. This is an incredible price for the specs and features of this mower.

The S200XT is, without a doubt, one of the best values for a commercial zero turn in the industry. It provides a durable machine, great cut, and amazing price.

  1. I have used a S200XT 72″ Snapper Pro for years. I got it when I had picked up an account with 16 acres of rolling hills. Very well built machine . Solid durable and cuts even and straight with no pulls to right or left even on slopes or hills allowing for straight line cuts. Only thing I have ever had problems with is electrical. That only becoming an issue after 500 hours. Will by this product again .
