As one of the most popular and trusted brands in the lawn care industry, Gravely has a reputation for producing high-quality, durable, and effective lawn mowers. Their walk-behind mowers are no exception and are some of the best on the market. For 100 years, Gravely has specialized in quality walk-behind lawn mowers. The Pro Walk series has two builds to choose from.
Personally, I would only get a Hydro walk behind mower. That isn't specific to Gravely but for all brands. They are so much easier to drive and much better in wet conditions. Gear/belt drive mowers are much more difficult to drive, and the belts slip a lot if they get wet.

Power
The Gravely Pro Walk gear drive features a Kawasaki® FX481V. All hydro drive models have a Kawasaki FS600V, except PRO-WALK® HYDRO 60” has a Kawasaki FS691V. The Pro-Walk Gear has a Peerless® drive system, and the Pro-Walk Hydro has a Hydro-Gear® ZT-2800.
The Pro walk Hydro model technically has a residential-grade transaxle. I would like Gravely to update these to either ZT-3100 or even ZT-3400.
Features
The Pro Walks have an easily accessible maintenance area that allows you to change out the oil filter without any tools. Raising the deck is also easy to do and has a convenient handle to control it.
Pro-Walk Hydro uses a flip-up side discharge shoot that can also be connected to an optional grass collector for convenient mulching.
Cut Quality
The Pro-Walk Gear uses a manual lift system and an electric clutch deck engagement. Adjusting the deck lets you choose the length of the cut.
The Pro-Walk Hydro utilizes a single-point height-of-cut and a manual deck lift system as well as an electric clutch deck engagement. Optional blade upgrades help you cut up to five times as fast.
The overall cut quality of this mower is very good. It mows grass effectively and leaves very few stragglers.
Durability
Gravely mowers are built to last, and many users keep their machines for decades. Quality parts, expert engineering, and top-of-the-line metal mean that they are durable machines. You can also upgrade to the optional LaserEdge Blade Kit, which uses self-sharpening blades.
Comfort
Pro-Walk Gear has adjustable handlebars that let you use them on four levels for the best fit. Ergonomic Controls include padded handlebars for ultimate comfort and also help you to reduce arm and hand fatigue.
The Pro-Walk Hydro uses intuitive steering controls for a smooth operating machine. Optional accessories also make it easier to get the best cut. A grass catcher makes cleaning up simple, and you can also compost or mulch the cuttings.
Aesthetics
The Gravely mower features a durable red and black body design. It has a long design with an adjustable deck that lets you trim large areas or even around flower beds. The compact deck gives you more clearance when moving around hard-to-reach areas. Also, its lightweight design helps make it quick and turn fast. The floating deck is lockage and has a reinforced edge.
Build Quality
Pro- Walk Gear has a 7-gauge deck. The spindles have aluminum housing which provides maintenance-free performance. X 3.50-4 SEMI-PNEUMATIC front wheels help you to make tight turns and mow quickly.
Pro-Walk Hydro has a wide wheelbase for ultimate stability when navigating on a hillside. The 11 X 4-5 SEMI-PNEUMATIC front wheels are durable and quick to turn. Forged aluminum spindle housing provides close cuts, and it is made to last and be maintenance-free.

Price
The Gravely Pro Walk Hydro starts at around $6,599. The prices of walk-behinds have increased significantly over the past couple of years (like most mowers.) In my opinion, these commercial walk behinds are becoming a little too expensive to justify.
Wrapping It Up
For an upgrade to any push mower, the Gravely Pro Walk line is a top choice. These performance commercial mowers are made to be used for landscaping jobs. They are flexible and versatile. You can adjust different factors of the mower for jobs of all sizes, from detailing work to large mowing jobs. Customizable grass height options mean you can get the precision cut you want.
