Gravely Pro-Turn 600 Overview

The Pro-Turn 600 is a huge leap in innovation for Gravely. It is the first version of suspension (besides seats) they have ever offered. Besides the awesome looking absolutely awesome the suspension is definitely something that caught our eye.

So what is the “Suspension POD System”? It is a similar concept to Toro's MyRide suspension platform. However, it is designed a little different to create a more natural “suspension” feel to the mower.

Mower manufacturers have been trying to replicate the comfortable ride of Ferris mowers for many years now. These efforts have increased a ton over the last couple of years. The Pro-Turn 600 is the newest mower to give the comfortable ride market a chance.

Power

Power is one of the most important aspects to look at before purchasing a lawn mower. It will help with pushing through wet and overgrown grass. This mower is equipped with some of the best engines in the industry and a great drive train.

Engine

Gravely Pro-Turn 600 uses the Kawasaki FX850V 27 hp, FX1000 35 hp, and FX1000EFI 38hp. Kawasaki lawn mower engines are durable if well maintained.

kawasaki fx1000v EFI

Compared to other zero-turn lawn mowers, Gravely pro-turn has better performance because of its higher CC and engine rating. For instance, it has an engine rating of up to 38.5HP/999cc, while the Toro 5000 has an engine rating of 25HP/747cc.

Drive Train

The drive system of this lawn mower is parker HTG. We believe these will be the 16cc pumps. These are trusted across the industry and very common on many high-end mowers. The 16cc Parker HTG pumps are comparable to the Hydro-Gear ZT-5400 transaxles.

Another outstanding feature about this lawn mower is that it has a ground speed of 15/6 mph. Similar lawn mowers like the Toro 5000 and Ferris ISX3300 have a lower ground speed. When it comes to the drive system, it uses the parker HTG system, which is an economical solution.

Features

Gravely Pro-Turn 600 zero turn mower has various features that set it apart from other zero-turn lawnmowers. There is so much to love about this zero turn lawn mower, from its suspension system to the large diameter tires. The following are the unique features of Gravely pro-turn 600 lawn mower:

Suspension System

One of the outstanding features of gravely pro-turn 600 is the suspension feature. You can now feel like part of the machine and get more control and comfort by forgetting about bumps and jolts.

Compared to any other Gravely mower, this mower will allow you to mow at high speeds without having to worry about the occasional jolts and bumps. The good thing is that it does not need expensive maintenance since it is designed to self-adjust.

As you can see in the image above you can see there is one large shock under the seat. This is what suspends the platform while you are mowing. When riding this mower compared to Toro's MyRide it feels much more natural.

Like the MyRide mowers, it still feels a little weird since the zero turn handles don't move with the platform. Because of this, your body can be moving while the handles aren't. This can make the ride feel a little awkward in very bumpy situations.

Overall, Gravely's version of a suspension platform is definitely a step forward. I would highly recommend demoing this mower to feel the ride of the mower before purchasing.

X-Factor III Deck

This lawn zero turn lawn mower features a new redesigned deck for efficient grass dispersion. The new-look comprises seven-gauge steel that allows it to deliver quality results for many years. Its new deck is 30% more efficient than previous decks.

We think this deck will prove to be a huge improvement over previous Gravely decks. We are hoping to see other mowers in the Gravely lineup move to this deck as well. The two belt systems seems to do well more many other commercial brands and think it will do the same for the Pro-Turn 600.

Large Diameter Tires

Another unique feature of this lawn mower is its large-diameter tires. It has large diameter tires on its front and rear to provide a smooth ride and more traction regardless of the conditions. The large diameter tires also support high-speed performance.

This will all the mower to hold hills better since it has a wider wheel base and tires. This is much needed for this mower because the suspension platform causes the seat to sit up a bit higher than other Gravely's and many other brands.

Hill stability was initially a concern of mine when I first saw this mower. Overall, it is pretty good on hill sides though. Not the best, but definitely not a deal breaker.

Cut Quality

The cut quality is an important aspect that I consider before buying a zero-turn lawnmower. Various aspects like the mowing height, number of blades the reel has, forward speed, and the zero turn mower's rotational speed. Gravely pro-turn 600 lawnmower has an X factor III deck for improved grass dispersion.

Moreover, its seven-gauge steel suits different lawn’s needs. This new deck design features additional spindles, chute profile, standard baffles, and larger discharge openings.

Pros

  • The new deck designs make gravely pro-turn 600 much more diverse in its applications (cutting different types of grass)
  • It has an optimized chute that allows for even grass dispersion and reduces windrowing.
  • The new baffles will enable it to cut at peak efficiency regardless of the conditions.

Cons

  • The only downside of this deck design is that it has to be adjusted after some time.
  • Potentially the lack of a true slope nose design.

Durability

Gravely pro-turn 600 is one of the most durable mowers due to its Kawasaki engine and strong designs. It also has large tires making it efficient in various conditions. The seven-gauge steel used to construct the deck promises several years of solid performance.

The durability of this zero turn mower (and any other mower) depends on several things like maintenance and service. A properly maintained gravely pro-turn 600 zero turn mower should last a long time.

Comfort

This zero turn mower has several features that make it comfortable. Apart from its suspension, it also has large diameter wheels on the rear and backside to allow operators to use it at high speed without worrying about bumps and jolts. The large wheels also mean that it can be used in any condition. It also has high back seats bolstered with suspension pod systems to offer more comfort without sacrificing performance.

Aesthetics

This mower has a seat with a suspended system and a redesigned deck. The suspended system comes with shock absorbers. It also features an automotive-style tubular frame to lower the center of gravity. The new X-factor III deck gives it a cool look while improving performance. It also has large tires with star pattern rims.

Build Quality

The build quality of Gravely pro-turn 600 mowers is very good. The tubular frame is incredible sturdy and will hold up for a long time.

Overall, this mower from front to back appears to be built incredibly well. Of course, only time will tell since this is a brand new mower. We hope to learn this mower holds up very well in the future.

Safety

The mower has various safety features like high back seats attached to a suspension system and large diameter tires that offer more traction. Moreover, it has an automotive-style tubular frame that lowers the center of gravity, making it stable. Besides, Gravely offers a 5-year warranty for the pro-turn 600 zero-turn mowers.
