The Gravely is can compete with the top stand on mowers. Most of the specs on the mower is comparable to others in the industry.

One thing that immediately stands out is the rear tire size. There are a few inches small than that of the Ferris and Scag stand ons. This could make jumping curbs a bit more difficult and may not hold to hills as well.

Most stand on mowers in the industry have converted to a fixed platform over the wheel base. Gravely still has a flip-up platform, similar to that of the Toro Grandstand. We have found that the fold down platforms have a little less stability on hills because of having more weight behind the wheel base.

The advantage of this is you can flip up the platform and walk behind it while mowing. This may be advantageous for very specific situations but I found that walking behind the mower is rarely (if ever) used.

Possibly the best feature of the Gravely Pro Stance is the foot deck adjustment. This makes it so easy to “float” the deck like you would on a regular zero turn mower. I'm not aware of any other stand on that has this feature.

Power

The amount of power you will be getting from the mowers in this series will be largely dependent on which one you lay your hands on. To ensure a better spread of efficiency and service across board, Gravely has opted to pair different engines with the diverse cutting decks made available for users.

Engine options range from the Kawasaki FX730V, Kohler EFI and Kawasaki FX691V to all of the Kohler ZT30 and Kawasaki FS600V. The kind of engine you get will be dependent on the cutting deck which ranges from 36 inches to 60 inches.

On the back of that, you can get as much as 25HP on one of these machines, and a lower threshold of 18.5HP, which is still an impressive number.

Features

  • Up to 6 different engine options to choose from – Kawasaki FX730V, Kohler EFI and Kawasaki FX691V, Kohler ZT30 and Kawasaki FS600V
  • The machine comes with a variety of cutting decks – 36”, 48”, 52” and 60”
  • The machines offer as little as 18.5HP and as much as 25HP
  • All of the engines above come with a 9-gallon fuel tank which can hold well due to the efficient fuel management system of the engines
  • Flip-up suspension platform for all-day comfort to the operator
  • Dual height adjustment option helps bring smaller operators better handling
  • Simple 4-point adjustment system for better cutting performance

If you were looking for a powerhouse series that has it all, this one would take home the crown. From a slew of engines to different cutting widths and machine horse power ratings, there is almost no combination they don’t make possible.

Durability

The body will be the first place to check, and that frame is nothing that will fail under impact anytime soon.

From there, we move to the engines. Looking at the companies behind their build, you can always be assured of getting noting but the best. That puts the Gravely Pro Stance Mower series up there with the highly durable mower models on the market.

Comfort

A dual height adjustment system is built in to allow smaller operators reach the hand lever lifts better. This takes away the fatigue that would have risen from the machine operation otherwise.

At the rear of the mower is a flip-up suspension platform. You can use this to transform the machine from a stand-on mower to a walk behind equipment, and vice versa.

Aesthetics

This mower series follows the build of many on the market.

Embracing the usual red and black detailing we are now used to, the beauty of the machine is accentuated by the ergonomics behind it. Each part of the machine has been completely streamlined to the operation, making sure there are no unnecessary edges or bulk parts to deal with.

Making one of the most beautiful appearances anywhere, that quality is skin deep.

Safety

Of course, operator safety was kept in mind when building this unit. That is the only way it would have passed onto the market stage in the first place. With sturdiness in tow, the machine will surely be safe for use in hilly and rocky areas.

The controls are also easy to reach for easy maneuverability.

Operated according to the proper guidelines, you should have anything to worry about.

Warranty

The warranty on the Gravely Pro Stance is 5 year or 1000 hours. This is a competitive warranty depending on how much you are using the mower. Most full time lawn care companies will put 500-800 hours per year on a mower.

If you are closer to the 800 hour mark this warranty will be less than 2 years. Most competitive brands offer unlimited hours for the first two years. This probably isn't a big difference in most cases but something to be aware of.

Price

To get the Gravely Pro Stance series mowers, I advise checking out a local dealer and seeing what they offer.

Note that the price you get your unit for might differ from the list price. That could be due to factor such as delivery fees, status of the dealer and so much more.

We recommend looking around for the best deal before putting pen to paper on the purchase of one of these tools.

  1. Beware of the Gravely compact pro 44 zero turn mowers model #991145. There are many bugs to the unit that Gravely is failing to take care of. New smaller rear tires causes the unit to lose traction on even very slight inclines. Unit flips VERY easily. Poor design on the cutting deck hangers. Burns more gas than the older units. Over all a very poor revamping design and poor engineering.
