I enjoy using products that have stood the test of time. When I was in the market for buying a leaf blower, I did not want to deviate from my ideology of using time-tested products. I won't lie; originally, I was a die-hard Stihl fan, but I began to look at different brands.
One of the reasons I started looking into the Echo PB-9010 leaf blower was that the name behind this product (Echo Inc.) has been in business since 1972.
They went by Kioritz Corporation of America before rebranding themselves as Echo. With a 40-year old history, Echo is a household name in the outdoor equipment space. Another thing I liked about this brand is that they manufacture their products in the United States.
Let’s dive into this powerful leaf blower, my experience with the product, how it compares with other contenders, and more.

In a hurry?
If you're in a hurry, all you need to know is the Echo PB-9010 is one of the best backpack blowers available. It has the most blowing power, competitively priced, and amazing for fall cleanups.
Comparison
When I first started my research, I started looking into the Echo PB-9010T and the Echo PB-8010T. Both these blowers share amazing quality and attention to detail. What I especially liked about these blowers is the air volume and its ability to blow leaves quickly.
With their powerful engines and massive fuel tanks, these gas-powered backpack blowers appealed to me.
So how does it compare to the Stihl BR800 C-E Magnum? They're fairly comparable, but the Echo blower wins in air volume and blow power.
The Echo PB-9010 is slightly heavier, but I trade off less than one pound heavier for the additional blowing power and larger fuel tank.
Blower | Echo PB-9010H | Stihl BR800 |

Features
Let’s talk about the features of the Echo PB-9010 leaf blower.
I wanted a blower that I could use even when it was raining. An issue I have had with other blowers is that during the rainy season and winters, they do a subpar job of removing leaves that stick to the wet pavement.
With the Echo PB-9010, I did not have this issue. This leaf blower conveniently moves wet debris. What’s even more interesting is that it is not that big compared to other blowers.
I could easily throw it in my truck. Echo has done a good job placing the primer bubble on the carburetor, thus allowing the blower to start quickly. I also liked the various throttle settings on the handle. These come in handy when I am in a hurry and want to finish the job quickly.
It also has different throttle settings on the handle – low and full throttle as well as stop – which is a really handy feature and something not all blowers have. This blower has strong, padded, sturdy shoulder straps.
Even when I used the blower for almost 2 hours, it did not cause any pain in my shoulders. The blower’s backrest is also padded and vented. These little things matter when you are carrying a blower on your shoulders.
It has been a pain to use a blower during hot, humid weather. With the Echo PB-9010, I did not encounter any problems because of its high-performance cooling system. This system draws cool air across your back, so you do not feel the heat in a hot climate.
I rarely had to refuel the Echo 9010’s fuel tank until I had finished 4-5 jobs. In general, the blower lasted a long time on one tank of gas. I love their translucent (almost see-through) fuel tank. It allows me to see the fuel level quickly without having to guess.
Specs
The Echo PB-9010 leaf blower uses a professional-grade 2-stroke engine. This blower boasts 1110 CFM of air volume and a speed of 220 MPH at the nozzle. The PB-9010 has a large 83.8oz fuel tank. This leaf blower has a noise rating of 80 dB.
The specs of this blower are nearly the best (if not the best) in the industry. The blowing power is unmatched. It can quickly move leaves and debris.
Power
The Echo PB9010 has a powerful 79.9 cc, 2-cycle engine. Most 2-cycle engines require a mixture of gas and oil. The gas-to-oil ratio is 50:1 (this is standard) for the echo pb9010 blower. As per Echo, you should use 89-Octane or higher-grade gasoline. This machine has variable speed settings, which help you precisely control its air output.
Durability
In my view, the Echo PB9010 has a sturdy frame. Echo has done a good job at using quality materials for building this strong blower. The actual design of the blower hasn't changed much over recent years. I guess if it's not broken, don't fix it.
Weight
This backpack leaf blower weighs 26.4 lbs. I do admit that this leaf blower is a little heavy. There are lightweight blowers available, but you might get less power (CFM). This comes down to your use case. This blower is a much better option for fall cleanups, but you may want a lighter blower for regular lawn maintenance during the spring/summer.
Pros / Cons
One of the biggest selling points of the Echo PB-9010 is its power. At 1110 CFM and 220MPH, it is easily one of the most powerful backpack leaf blowers available today. Its large fuel tank and comfortable back padding with active airflow add to its positive points.
The only downside about this blower is that it lacks a hip strap. And the fact that it weighs 26.4 lbs could be an issue for some.
Warranty
The Echo PB-9010 comes with a 5-year (limited) warranty. Compare this with the rest of the industry, and it is fairly standard or above standard. For example, Stihl's warranty on backpack blowers is only 2 years.
